The Dane County Sheriff's Office has countywide jurisdiction, with our primary area of responsibility being the unincorporated areas of the county. We also provide supplemental law enforcement services on a contract basis to a number of villages and townships within the County. Some municipalities contract for full-time deputy coverage, whereas others contract for services on an overtime basis. Our contract deputies work closely with local officials and communities to provide services that meet the needs of the individual community. In addition to the villages and towns listed, our Freeway Service Team and deputies at the Dane County Regional Airport are also funded through contracts.

The Town of Albion contracts for supplemental law enforcement coverage on an overtime basis. The deputy assigned works out of the Southeast Precinct,125 Veteran's Road, Stoughton, WI 53589. The precinct telephone number is (608) 266-9122.

 The Township of Bristol supplements the normal law enforcement coverage provided by the Dane County Sheriff's Office by contracting for additional deputies on overtime. The deputies work out of the Northeast Precinct, 4084 Mueller Road, DeForest, WI 53532. The Township of Burke began contracting for additional law enforcement coverage in February 2018. Deputies work varying shifts up to 16 hrs per week in the township. Their office is located in the Burke Town Hall at 5365 Reiner Rd., Madison 53718. They can be reached through the NE Precinct at (608) 266-3456.

The Town of Dunn supplements its law enforcement coverage by contracting for 20 additional hours of coverage per week. This coverage is provided by Dane County deputies working overtime. The Village of Rockdale began a new contract with the Dane County Sheriff's Office in January 2020. They will be having a deputy working four overtime hours per month to assist in addressing traffic issues and enforcing local ordinances.
