Deputies Respond to Two Serious Injury Crashes Involving Intoxicated Drivers

Two separate crashes early Sunday morning injured four people and have two men facing felony charges.

 

At about 12:30 am on Sunday, August 3rd, a 2000 Ford Escort was eastbound on Schadel Road in the town of Deerfield, when the driver, Dustin M. Moreland, failed to stop at a stop sign at CTH W, and struck a group of trees.  Moreland’s passenger, Alexander C. Bower, age 23 of Sun Prairie, sustained serious, but non-life threatening injuries.  Both men were admitted to UW Hospital.  Moreland, age 19 of Marshall, was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated – 2ndOffense, Causing Injury.  He was also cited for Operating After Revocation, Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign, and No Seatbelt.

 

About an hour later, Dane County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a second injury crash on CTH B, just west of Clear View Road in the town of Christiana.  A 2006 Dodge Ram had been eastbound on CTH B when it veered off the road and rolled over.  A passenger, Michael D. Froh, age 31 of Ridgeway, was ejected from the pick-up truck and sustained critical injuries.  He was transported by Med Flight to UW Hospital.  The driver, Tony P. Gausmann, age 33 of Cambridge, was also admitted to UW Hospital.  He was arrested for OWI – Causing Great Bodily Harm.  Neither occupant was wearing a seatbelt.

 

Dane County Sheriff’s deputies arrested two other drivers for Operating While Intoxicated during this shift.
