The Dane County Sheriff’s Office is encouraging citizens of Cottage Grove to attend a Community Notification Meeting on the release of Howard Nyberg.

 

A core team evaluates and makes decisions on the level of notification to the community for the release of sex offenders under Wisconsin Statutes 301.45 and 301.46.  The Core Team will be holding a Community Notification Meeting on Thursday, February 12th at 6:30 pm.  The meeting will be held at the Cottage Grove Town Hall located at 4058 CTH N.

 

The Core Team will offer information about the Community Notification Law and the release of Howard Nyberg to an address on Gaston Circle. His photo will be provided at the meeting, as well as more detailed information on his offenses. Nyberg has a conviction in 1994 for two counts of 2nd Degree Sexual Assault of a Child.  He was committed in 1998 under Wisconsin State Statute 980, and granted a supervised release in November of 2014.

 

Authorities will also provide citizens with information about protective behaviors and personal safety.  Howard Nyberg is not wanted at this time, and this information is not intended to increase fear, but rather inform the public.  Citizen abuse of this information to threaten, intimidate, or harass registered sex offenders will not be tolerated.
