Sheriff's Office

Watching Rhythm and Booms by boat has become a tradition for many and with this year’s new location on Lake Monona, the Sheriff’s Office expects boat traffic to be heavy on Saturday, June 28th.

The Marine and Trail Enforcement deputies offer these tips to make it an enjoyable and safe event:

  • Lake Monona will be Slow No Wake from noon to midnight on Saturday.
  • The Olin Park boat landing will be closed, however, Olbrich and all other landings will be open.
  • Plan ahead by checking lights and other equipment to insure that they operate after dark.
  • Expect delays at landings and the locks.  Be courteous and patient!
  • Make sure everyone on the boat has a personal floatation device.
  • Non-motorized boats must carry a white light strong enough to be seen by other boats from a distance of two miles.
  • Boaters are encouraged to use a designated, sober driver.

The Dane County Sheriff’s Office will have three patrol boats on Lake Monona, as well as boats on Lakes Mendota and Waubesa.  Sheriff’s deputies will also be present at the Tenney Locks.
