Officer Involved Shooting in the Town of Primrose

At approximately 12:35 p.m. the Dane County Sheriff’s Office responded to 233 Hanna Rd. in the Town of Primrose for the report of a disturbance in which an elderly male and female sustained injuries consistent with being beaten.  During the course of investigating the incident, two deputies were attacked and injured by a subject wielding a sharp edged weapon.

 

The subject was shot and died at the scene.

 

Lt. Brian Hayes and Deputy Roger Finch were taken by Med Flight to UW Hospital.  Both deputies are in stable condition.   Hayes and Finch each have more than of 20 years of service with the Sheriff’s Office.

 

The Dane County Sheriff’s Office Officer Involved Shooting Protocol was initiated and investigators from the Sun Prairie Police Department, Madison Police Department, Fitchburg Police Department, and UW Police Department are leading the investigation with the assistance of the Dane County Sheriff’s Office.
