April 15, 2014 – At approximately 3:50 am, Dane County Sheriff’s deputies responded to an Armed Robbery at 5901 US Highway 51 in the town of Burke. 

 

Two clerks were working at the TA Travel Center when a gloved and masked man approached them displaying a handgun and demanding money.  The suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash to a pick-up truck waiting outside with a second male in the driver seat.

 

Just before 8:00 am, a resident of the town of Windsor reported their pick-up stolen.  Detectives believe this was the same vehicle used in the armed robbery.  The stolen vehicle was recovered and returned to its owner.  Detectives are continuing to investigate and ask anyone with information related to the crime to call the Dane County tip line at (608) 284-6900.

 

UPDATE

 

April 16, 2014- The Dane County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the armed robbery at the TA Travel Center on Tuesday, April 15th.  Detectives have confirmed that the stolen auto from the Township of Windsor was the one utilized in the commission of the robbery, and are interested in anyone who may have seen the vehicle in the area at the time of the robbery.  The vehicle involved is a 2008, red, Chevrolet Silverado pickup with silver tool box in the cargo bed. 

 

The Dane County Sheriff’s Office is releasing partial footage from the robbery and is interested in anyone who may recognize the involved suspect seen wearing the hooded sweatshirt in the attached photograph.  In addition, detectives are interested in speaking with a customer in the TA Travel Center at the time of the robbery, also shown in the attached photograph.  Anyone who recognizes either subject is encouraged to contact the Dane County Sheriff’s Office tip line at 608-284-6900.
