**Update** As of 5:00 p.m., the phones are now receiving outside calls. Again, the Sheriff’s Office does apologize for any inconveniences this may have caused. Madison, WI. February 10, 2009 – At approximately 3:00 pm today, the Dane County Sheriff’s Office planned a change over to a new digital phone system. There have been some difficulties with the change over and outside calls are currently not operable. Staff from the telephone company is working diligently to correct this problem as soon as possible. If all goes well, the phone system will be up before 5:00 pm. The Sheriff’s Office apologizes for any inconvenience this may have caused. This issue is affecting lines within the Public Safety Building, and in no way affects emergency numbers at the Dane County Communications Center. A follow-up press release will be issued once the phone system is operable.
