Body Recovered From Lake Monona - UPDATE

September 13, 2009.  Madison, WI. 

At 2:00 pm, the Dane County Communications Center received a report of a body floating along the western shore of Lake Monona.  Deputies recovered the body of a male subject, which matched the description of missing boater Warren C. Roecker, 36, of Madison.  The Sheriff’s Office Marine and Trail Enforcement (MATE) Unit and Dive Team had been searching the lake daily since September 9, 2009, when Roecker was reported missing after he and Terry A. Stehr, 41, of Madison went swimming. 

The Dane County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identity of the decedent as Warren C. Roecker. 

The Sheriff’s Office wishes to thank the DNR and the public for their aid in assisting with this search.

 

**UPDATE**

 

September 14, 2009- The Dane County Coroner’s Office has reported that the preliminary results of today’s autopsy of Warren C. Roecker indicate that the cause of death is consistent with drowning.
