At 2:19 p.m., Dane County Sheriff’s Office deputies, along with Black Earth Fire and EMS, were dispatched to the intersection of County Highway F and Enerson Road, in the Town of Vermont, for a two-vehicle crash with injuries.
A 1995 Toyota Camry, driven by Ronald C. Patterson, 45, of Black Earth was traveling southbound through the “S” curves on Highway F approaching Enerson Road, when he swerved into the path of a dump truck traveling northbound. The dump truck was driven by Scott A. Breunig, 34, of Spring Green. Breunig attempted evasive action, however, the two vehicles collided in a head-on crash.
Patterson, who was not wearing his seatbelt, was transported to U.W. Hospital, via Med Flight, with a serious leg and head injury. Breunig was wearing his seatbelt and did not suffer any injuries.
Patterson’s license is currently revoked and he will be receiving numerous traffic citations as a result of the crash. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
Highway F was closed for approximately one hour while deputies investigated the crash
