Two-Vehicle Crash

Madison, WI. February 27, 2009 – A two-vehicle crash on Highway 19 at County Highway TT in the Town of Medina has resulted in one driver being transported to University Hospital with serious, non-life threatening injuries. The crash occurred at approximately 6:25 am this morning, causing a section of Highway 19 east of Sun Prairie to be closed between the hours of 6:25 am to 8:00 am. A 39-year old Marshall man was driving his Dodge Ram pickup westbound on Highway 19 when he lost control of his vehicle, crossed the centerline, and collided head-on with an eastbound Chevy Colorado pickup operated by a 29-year old Sun Prairie man. The 39-year old man, who was wearing a seatbelt, was transported to University Hospital with minor injuries. The 29-year old man, who was not wearing a seat belt, was transported by Med-Flight to University Hospital with serious, non-life threatening injuries. There were no other occupants in either vehicle. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, however icy road conditions may have been a contributing factor. Motorists within Dane County are advised to travel with due regard during their morning commute, and allow for extra time due to the icy conditions present on the outlying roadways. **UPDATE** The driver of the Dodge Ram pickup has been identified as 39 yo Matthew D. Jennings. He was treated and released from UW Hospital. The other driver, 29 yo Adam J. Vorwald remains in UW Hospital with serious injuries. The Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate this crash.
