Two-Vehicle Fatality Crash

At approximately 12:40 pm, Dane County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash on State Highway 19, near Walter’s Road, in the town of Westport. A westbound pick-up truck driven by a 65-year-old male crossed the center line and struck an eastbound Pontiac Vibe. The driver of the Pontiac, a 19-year-old male, was ejected from his vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The 65-year-old male was transported by EMS to a local hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. Crash reconstructionists from the Dane County Sheriff’s Office will continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash. Highway 19 will be closed for approximately two hours during that process. At this time, road conditions do not appear to be a factor in the crash. Names of the parties involved are being held pending notification of family members. ###
