TOWN OF DUNN FATALITY CRASH

Madison, WI. Friday, May 15, 2009 – At 3:01 p.m., the Dane County Sheriff’s Office, along with McFarland Police, Fire, and EMS, and Madison Fire responded to a two-car fatality crash on U.S. Highway 51, just south of Exchange Street, in the town of Dunn. A 1995 Acura Integra was traveling south on U.S. Highway 51 from McFarland when the driver lost control on the shoulder of the road while trying to pass another vehicle. This vehicle then crossed the center line and crashed into a 2006 Chevy Impala traveling north on U.S. Highway 51. Two passengers from the first vehicle were ejected from the vehicle. One was pronounced deceased at the scene, the other was transported to a local hospital by med flight with life threatening injuries. A passenger in the second vehicle was also transported to a local hospital via ambulance with life threatening injuries. The names of those involved are being withheld pending notification of family and further investigation. U.S. Highway 51 remains closed between Exchange Street and East Tower Road. Motorists are asked to find an alternate route. The crash remains under investigation by the Dane County Sheriff’s Office. UPDATE The driver of the southbound 1995 Acura Integra has been identified as 22 year-old Richard Nelson of Stoughton. Brad Anderson, age 20, also of Stoughton is the surviving passenger. Anderson remains hospitalized due to the injuries sustained in the crash. The deceased passenger was previously identified by the Dane County Coroner’s Office as 19 year-old Andrea Garcia of Madison. The driver of the northbound 2006 Chevrolet Impala has been identified as Mark Stutman, age 51, of Levittown, PA. His passenger, 52 year-old Pamela Stutman, also of Levittown, PA remains hospitalized due to the injuries she sustained in the crash. The Dane County Sheriff’s Office investigation into this crash continues.
