Two Motorcycles Collide Resulting In Serious Injuries

Madison, WI. Sunday, May 3, 2009 At approximately 2:35 p.m., Dane County Dispatch received several 911 calls regarding a motorcycle crash at State Highway 19 and Lodi Springfield Road in the Town of Springfield. When deputies arrived they discovered the crash involved the collision of two motorcycles. Dean J. Enders, 48, of Waunakee was operating his 2005 Harley Davidson and traveling eastbound on Highway 19 when he slowed to turn south onto Lodi Springfield Road. Steven C. Watzke, 53, also of Waunakee, was operating his 2006 Harley Davidson and riding slightly behind Enders in the same lane. Watzke did not realize Enders was turning and collided with the side of Enders’ motorcycle. Both cyclists were transported to U.W. Hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. Watzke suffered a leg injury and Enders sustained a head injury as a result of the crash. Neither party was wearing a helmet. Highway 19 was closed for approximately one hour. The crash remains under investigation by the Dane County Sheriff’s Office.
