At 4:43 p.m., Dane County Sheriff’s Deputies, along with Belleville Fire and EMS, Fitchrona EMS, Belleville and Verona Police Departments, responded to the intersection of State Highway 69 and Dianne Avenue in the Town of Montrose for a motorcycle vs. vehicle crash.

Upon arrival, deputies found a 60-year old male lying on the highway.  His 1992 Honda Goldwing was nearby.  Deputies and EMS personnel immediately rendered aid to the cyclist.  However, he was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Dane County Coroner.  The cyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.  The driver of the other vehicle was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured in the crash.

The initial investigation reveals the motorcycle was traveling northbound on Highway 69.  A Toyota Camry turned south onto Highway 69 from Dianne Avenue and in doing so pulled into the path of the northbound motorcycle.  The cyclist was unable to avoid impact with the Camry.

Highway 69 between Highway PB and Highway A was closed for approximately three hours while members of the Crash Reconstruction Team processed the scene.

Further information on the identity of the parties involved will be provided after family members have been notified.

This crash remains under investigation.
