Jonathon M. Roach, 17, of Fitchburg, was westbound on Stagecoach Road and pulled to the side of the road to complete a u-turn. Roach observed a motorcycle traveling eastbound on Stagecoach and believed he had time to complete the u-turn. A 1998 Triumph motorcycle driven by David B. Rooney, 24, of Mt. Horeb, crashed into the side of Roach’s 2002 Chevrolet Impala. Rooney and his passenger Danielle M. Mergen, 25, of Mt. Horeb were both wearing helmets at the time of the crash.
Rooney was transported, via med-flight, to the UW Hospital with serious injuries. Mergen was also transported, via ambulance, with serious injuries.
Roach was cited for Failure to Yield Right of Way. The Dane County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstructionists responded to assist with the crash, which remains under investigation at this time.
