On Sunday, March 29th, 16 Dane County Sheriff Explorers will spend the day training for an upcoming statewide competition to be held in Muskego, WI on April 25th. Starting at 9:00 am this Sunday, the Explorers and approximately 25 volunteers will be acting out scenarios of traffic stops and active shooters. The group will also be training on techniques for disturbance resolution and crime scene investigation. The training will take place at a vacant building on Femrite Drive in Monona. Earlier this month the group took first, second, and third place standings at a competition in Green Bay. Law Enforcement Exploring is a program for young men and women who are 14–20 years of age, and is run by the Boy Scouts of America. The Dane County Deputy Sheriff’s Association and the Dane County Sheriff’s Office recruit young men and woman to the Post with an interest in law enforcement with the hope they will consider a career with the Dane County Sheriff’s Office. Anyone interested in learning more about the Dane County Deputy Sheriff’s Association Explorer Post is encouraged to contact Deputy Coy Bethel at (608) 833-9560, or by e-mail at bethel@co.dane.wi.us.
