Felony OWI Arrest

At approximately 1:25 am on Saturday, February 7th, Dane County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a one-vehicle rollover crash on US Highway 14, just south of Rutland Road in the town of Rutland. David A. Hamby, age 50 of Brooklyn, was traveling southbound in his Acura sedan and failed to negotiate a slight curve. Hamby was subsequently arrested for OWI – 5th Offense. He was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured in the crash. He is currently being held in the Dane County Jail. In addition to the felony arrest, 13 other drivers were cited for Operating While Intoxicated over the weekend. At least three of those OWI’s were preceded by crashes. At approximately 1:55 am on February 7th, 20-year-old Kyle J. Hubanks of Monona was stopped for traveling 88 mph in a 55 mph zone on Highway 151 near Reiner Road in the town of Burke. Once his 2000 Lexus was stopped, he attempted to switch seats with his passenger. Hubanks was cited for OWI-1st Offense, Obstructing, and Possession of a Fake ID, and booked into the Dane County Jail. Dane County Sheriff’s Deputies also assisted the DNR with an OWI arrest of an intoxicated ice fisherman driving an ATV. Richard L. Frederickson, age 51 of Madison, was arrested for OWI-ATV and Possession of Cocaine. ###
