Brown is the color that usually comes to mind when you think Dane County Sheriff’s Office, but on Friday, October 17th, the Sheriff’s Office is going pink…Passionately Pink! October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month, and the Dane County Sheriff’s Office is showing their support by holding a fundraiser this Friday. Cancer is a disease that affects everyone, and the Sheriff’s Office has been no exception. “I truly believe if we find a cure for one cancer, we will find a cure for all cancer,” said Sheriff David Mahoney. All proceeds from the fundraiser will go directly to the Madison Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Foundation for the Cure. Sheriff’s Office employees will be seen wearing pink, including Bailiff’s in pink shirts and pink ties. Patrol Deputies in uniform may wear the official pink ribbon and pink ribbon magnets will be displayed on squad cars. At 11:30 am, donations will be presented to the director of the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Getting tested regularly is the best way for women to lower their risk of dying of breast cancer. In the past 20 years, great improvements have been made in the treatments available. As a result, the number of breast cancer survivors continues to increase.
