Sheriff's Office

Dane County Sheriff’s Detectives are seeking information on two traveling asphalt companies working in the area. On Tuesday, September 16th, the Dane County Sheriff’s Office released information on the arrest of Stewart V. Williams, age 20 of Waterford, CT. Williams is the owner of an asphalt/paving company that has been working illegally in Wisconsin. The Sheriff’s Office first came in contact with Williams after he and his company victimized a property owner in the town of Middleton. Following the publicity of the asphalt scam, the Dane County Sheriff’s Office uncovered further information of two fraudulent paving companies working in parallel. One company goes by the name Highway Paving, while the other company is called Young Paving. Detectives believe the two traveling companies have been working in the Dane County area for the past week to 10 days. In each case, a property owner is approached by the workers requesting to empty excess paving materials on their property (i.e. to fill holes etc). Once the property owner agrees, the workers begin to pave their entire driveway or parking lot and then present the property owner with a substantial bill for their services. Anyone who has been approached or had business dealings with either of these companies is asked to call Detective Wayne Honer at (608) 284-6844 or Detective Linda Pederson–Honer at (608) 284-6845. ###
