House Destroyed By Fire in Town of Cross Plains

Madison, WI: April 15, 2008 At 10:05 PM, Dane County Sheriff's Office Deputies responded with Black Earth Fire, Cross Plains Fire and EMS, and Town of Middleton Fire, to 7957 Deer Run Road in the Town of Cross Plains for a structure fire. First arriving units reported the house to be fully engulfed in flames. All occupants of the house were able to safely evacuate. Due to high winds and the potential for the fire to spread, neighboring residences were also evacuated. The Red Cross was called, and responded, to assist with the displaced residents, and to provide assistance to the family affected by the fire. Additionally, MG&E was called to assist with shutting off the natural gas in the affected area. The exact cause of the fire, which is undetermined at this time, remains under investigation. Dane County Sheriff's Office Fire Investigators were called in to assist the on-scene fire departments with determining the cause of the fire. The house was a complete loss, however an estimate of damage is unavailable at this time.
