Madison, WI. Date – The Dane County Sheriff’s Office is aware that news agencies are reporting that Tammy Fitzsimmons was abducted at gunpoint from the Village of Mt. Horeb. This information is incorrect. At approximately 9:00 p.m. on October 2, Tammy Fitzsimmons reported to the McCook Police Department in Nebraska that she had been abducted from Mt. Horeb. Through subsequent interviews, Sheriff’s Office Detectives, with the assistance of authorities in McCook, Nebraska, have confirmed that Tammy left Mt. Horeb alone and of her own accord. Although Tammy appears to be suffering some emotional distress, she is unharmed and will soon be reunited with family members who are traveling to Nebraska. The Dane County Sheriff’s values our relationship with local news organizations and request your help in allaying the concerns of people in the Mt. Horeb area.
