Sheriff's Office

Every three minutes, a woman in the United States is diagnosed with breast cancer. Today, the Dane County Sheriff’s Office is partnering with the Susan G. Komen Foundation to educate women about breast cancer screening methods. Since many in the inmate population may not have health insurance, preventative medicine is often not readily available to them. This morning, any inmate interested in receiving information on breast health and breast cancer exams will be provided that information by representatives of the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Breast cancer is the leading cancer among white and African American women, and the exact cause is unknown. Sheriff’s Office employees will also be able to access the information from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Public Safety Building on Doty Street in Madison. The Dane County Sheriff’s Office shares the mission of Susan G. Komen: To save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find the cures. ###
