Body Found in Lake Monona

Madison, WI. August 17th, 2008 – At approximately 10:15am, a caller reported seeing an individual floating off the shoreline of Lake Monona, near Law Park. Members of the Madison Fire Department Lake Rescue Unit and the Dane County Sheriffs Office Marine and Trail Unit responded to find a male submerged, just off the shoreline. The individual was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Dane County Coroners Office. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death are continuing and the name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of relatives. ***UPDATE*** The decedent has been positively identified as Juan K. Cathey, age 36, from Milwaukee. At this point there is no indication of foul play but the death remains under investigation by the Dane County Coroner’s Office.
