On Thursday, June 12th, approximately 25 law enforcement firearms instructors from throughout the mid-west will gather at the Dane County Law Enforcement Training Center for a two-day training conference presented by the International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors (IALEFI). Dane County is pleased to host the event which will feature instructors Darren Hynek and Jay Smith from the Wisconsin Department of Justice, Division of Criminal Investigation-Narcotics Bureau, James Williams, MD, Medical Director from the Emergency Department of the Riverside Medical Center in Waupaca, WI, and Petros Milionis, a full-time S.W.A.T. trainer from the Chicago Police Department. Firearms instructors from Wisconsin, Illinois, Kansas and Iowa will gain knowledge and expertise in the areas of basic handgun techniques, target visualization and advanced speed shooting skills. The regional training is offered to instructors, who are then able to take the information back to their respective departments and teach their officers this life saving information. “Dane County offers one of the best firearms training facilities in the country by combining classroom facilities and ranges designed to shoot shotguns, rifles and handguns, all in one location,” said Dennis Carroll of IALEFI’s Board of Directors. The Dane County Law Enforcement Training Center is located at 5184 Highway 19 in the town of Westport. For more information on IALEFI, visit their website at www.ialefi.com. ###
