Sheriff's Office

Madison, WI. June 6, 2008 – Tonight between the hours of 5:00 and 8:00 pm, the Dane County Sheriff’s Office will utilize the Reverse 911 system. A 30-second phone message will be sent to approximately 760 homes in northwestern Dane County to inform the residents of potential traffic delays on the morning of Saturday, June 7th. The Capitol View Triathlon, being held at Governor Nelson State Park, will include approximately 500 to 600 bicyclists that will leave the park at about 7:30 am and travel through the area until about 11:00 am. The Reverse 911 call will go to some, but not all, residents in the towns of Berry, Cross Plains, Middleton, Springfield, and Westport. The Sheriff’s Office is using this technology in an effort to give residents advanced notice of the event, so they may allow extra time while driving in the areas affected. A detailed route of the event can be viewed at www.capitolviewtriathlon.com.
