Man Killed in Hit and Run Crash

Madison, WI. March 29, 2008. At approximately 9:07 pm, Dane County Sheriff’s Deputies, Deforest Police, and Deforest EMS responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of County Highway DM and US Highway 51, Town of Windsor. A Chevrolet passenger car was traveling northbound on US Highway 51, when it was struck by an eastbound Chevrolet pickup truck that failed to stop at the stop sign on County Highway DM. The male operator of the pickup truck then fled the scene on foot. The male and female occupants of the passenger car were transported to UW Hospital, where the male, age 40, was pronounced deceased. The female occupant, also age 40, is being treated for serious injuries. The name of the victims are being withheld pending notification of family members. The crash remains under investigation by the Dane County Sheriff’s Office, but alcohol is being investigated as a possible contributing factor to the crash.
