Madison, WI. December 3, 2007 – On Friday at approximately 3:30 pm, a Dane County Sheriff’s Deputy working traffic enforcement in the town of York, stopped a 1998 Cadillac traveling at 118 mph on USH 151. Dana J. Pole, age 28 of Sun Prairie, was arrested for OWI 4th Offense, Speeding, and Failure to Wear a Seatbelt. The traffic team deputy stopped the vehicle approximately one mile south of CTH V. After being taken to Meriter Hospital for a blood draw, Pole was released to a responsible party. Pole’s passenger in the vehicle was transported to detox. Winter weekend weather made travel difficult throughout the weekend and deputies responded to numerous slide-offs and minor crashes Saturday and Sunday. The only serious crash occurred on Sunday at approximately 5:00 pm when Dane County Deputies along with Oregon Police and Brooklyn Police responded to a one vehicle roll-over crash on Highway 14 and Hill Road in the town of Rutland. Karla J. Bomkamp, age 42 of Madison, was traveling southbound on Hwy 14 when her vehicle slid off the roadway into the ditch rolling over twice. Also in the vehicle was an adult passenger, Victoria J. Nondorf, age 24 of Brooklyn, and three children, ages one, three, and sixteen. Bomkamp and Nondorf received non-life threatening injuries in the crash and were transported to a local hospital. The children were uninjured, and all occupants of the vehicle were wearing their seatbelts. Bomkamp was cited for Driving Too Fast for Conditions. With additional snowfall predicted tomorrow, the Dane County Sheriff’s Office wants to remind drivers to slow down, buckle-up, and drive sober.
