Madison, WI. January 7, 2008 – The Dane County Sheriff’s Office is urging citizens to use extreme caution while traveling Dane County Roadways. Warm temperatures combined with the snow covered ground is producing thick fog conditions throughout Dane County. Visibility is very poor. These same conditions were a significant factor in the several vehicle crash on I-39/90 yesterday that resulted in two fatalities. Dane County Deputies along with Belleville Police/Fire/EMS and Verona Police are currently investigating a crash on Hwy PB and Hwy 69 in the Town of Montrose. Hwy PB is closed at Sunset Dr. in the Town of Verona. Please avoid this area if you are traveling south from the Madison area. Citizens should not travel unless absolutely necessary due to these hazardous conditions. If you have to travel please due so with extreme caution. Reduce your speed, turn your headlights on, keep as safe a following distances to other vehicles as possible, always wear your seatbelt, and never drink and drive.
