Burglary Suspects Arrested

Madison, WI. – On 11/03/07, the Dane County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at an apartment in the Village of Oregon. Two individuals have been taken into custody in connection with residential burglaries that occurred over the last few months in the SE portion of Dane County. Sheriff’s Detectives arrested Ricky Strand, age 45 and Michael Leppert, age 44. Both individuals reside at 919 Janesville St., Oregon, WI. Strand and Leppert are currently being held in the Dane County Jail on probation violations. Charges related to the burglaries are pending the outcome of the on-going investigation. Detectives recovered stolen property at the residence that is connected to a few of the burglaries, which occurred in southern Dane County. After the property is inventoried, detectives will be contacting the burglary victims to identify their property. Officers from Oregon, McFarland, Stoughton, Verona and Middleton assisted with the search warrant. The Sheriff’s Office is working with these and other area Law Enforcement agencies to determine whether these suspects are connected to burglaries within their jurisdictions.
