Madison, WI. 11/21/2007 – The Dane County Sheriff’s Office annual Hunter’s Sight-In concluded on Friday, November 16th, with the highest turnout in the events history. 1,285 people came out to the Dane County Law Enforcement Training Center near Waunakee over the 14-day event. A total of 1,727 guns were sighted-in with the help of experienced firearms instructors. The high numbers are in part a result of the program being extended from 9 days in previous years to 14 days, leading up to the final day before the opener of the gun-deer season. The addition of Meriter Hospital’s “Take Aim on Heart Health” program also added to the number of participants. In addition, Dane County Sheriff’s Office Armorer’s worked on 510 weapons, including bore sighting, scope mounting/remounting, scope and sight adjustments, weapon cleaning, and other miscellaneous repairs, at no additional cost. The Dane County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank all of the participants and volunteer law enforcement officers for their continued support of the annual sight-in event. We hope to see you all again next year.
