November 2, 2007. Madison, WI – The Dane County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind hunter’s that this Saturday, November 3rd, is the start of the annual Hunter’s Sight-In program at the Dane County Law Enforcement Training Center. Experienced instructors will be on hand to provide assistance in the sighting and adjusting of firearms. There is a fee of $10.00 for the first gun and $5.00 for each additional gun. Hearing and eye protection is mandatory and will be provided, but you may also use your own. Hunters will also be able to receive information on hunting laws, regulations and gun safety. New opportunities at this years Hunter’s Sight-In include “Taking Aim on Heart Health”, and the Community Deputy Holiday Gift Drive. Every year, an unknown number of hunters never make it back home because their hearts suffer problems brought on by the strenuous exercise and dramatic bursts of activity that hunting can bring. Staff from Meriter Hospital will be on hand to provide health screenings in an effort to reduce the number of health related deaths during hunting season. In addition, donation boxes will be onsite for attendees to donate gifts and non-perishable food items to the Sheriff’s Office Annual holiday gift drive. Community deputies will distribute the donations to local families in need in mid December. The Training Center is located between Interstate 90/94 and Waunakee at 5184 State Highway 19. No appointment is necessary. The facility is open to the public between the hours of 8:30 am and 3:30 pm daily. Citizens may only bring firearms that are legal for use in hunting deer in Wisconsin.
