Dane County Sheriff’s Office Investigates Overnight Crime Spree in Eastern Dane County

The Dane County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a series of overnight crimes that occurred across several towns and villages in eastern Dane County. The calls include multiple vehicle break-ins, property damage, thefts, and two residential burglaries.
Deputies began receiving calls early Monday morning, February 2nd. 
•    4:51 am, a plow driver reports an unoccupied Hyundai Elantra in the road at State Highway 134 and State Farm Road in the town of Christiana. The car was stolen from the City of Madison.
•    5:04 am, a home burglary is reported on Bilstad Road in Cambridge, along with damage to the residents' vehicles.
•    5:57 am, a report of two vehicle break-ins on Woodhaven Ct. in Cambridge. 
•    7:06 am, damage to a vehicle on E. Main St. in Cambridge.
•    7:15 am, 2 vehicles damaged on CTH BB in the town of Deerfield.
•    8:28 am, damage to a vehicle on Skogen Road in Cambridge.
•    9:24 am, vehicle break-in on Woodhaven Ct. in Cambridge.
•    10:12 am, home burglary on Woodhaven Ct. in Cambridge.
The suspects shattered car windows to steal valuables inside. In several cases, they also took keys and garage door openers, giving them access to additional property. Stolen items include purses, electronics, cash, and credit cards.
Deputies and detectives spent the day interviewing victims, processing scenes, and collecting evidence. The Dane County Sheriff’s Office is also working closely with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office on similar calls believed to be connected.
