Fatal House Fire

Madison, WI – July 20, 2024 – At 6:40 am, Dane County Sheriff’s Deputies, along with the Black Earth Fire Department and Mazomanie Fire and EMS, responded to a house fire at 10106 CTH Y in the town of Mazomanie.

A neighbor discovered and reported the fire after power went out. One person was found deceased. The Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office will confirm the identity of the deceased after the person’s family has been notified. A dog was also inside the home but was able to escape unharmed.

MG&E responded to the area to assist with the power outage caused by the fire. The Department of Justice, Division of Criminal Investigation, is assisting the Dane County Sheriff’s Office with the investigation.
