Dane County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a Monona man on multiple charges after he attempted to flee a traffic stop.
At approximately 12:45 am, a deputy attempted to stop Tyler J. Wood for speeding and an expired registration on Cayuga Street and University Avenue in the City of Middleton. Wood refused to stop and was driving erratically. He eventually went off the road on Highway 12 just west of Greenway Blvd. and ran from the vehicle. A perimeter was created, and drone operators were set up to assist with the search for the driver.
A City of Madison Officer soon spotted Wood running eastbound on the railroad tracks. Despite his unwillingness to cooperate, officers were able to take him into custody on Elmwood Avenue in Middleton. Middleton EMS transported him to a local hospital for evaluation. A search of his car revealed what was ultimately determined to be two facsimile handguns.
Wood, age 41, was booked into the Dane County Jail for Operating While Intoxicated – 6th offense, Eluding, Possession of Burglarious Tools, Possession with Intent to Deliver Fentanyl, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Resisting. Wood also had outstanding warrants for nonsupport, eluding, and probation violations.
