Sheriff's Office
The Dane County Sheriff’s Office is welcoming a new class of deputies. Nine deputies will be sworn in by Sheriff Kalvin Barrett on Friday, December 8th, at 10:00 am in the Dane County Courthouse, Jury Assembly Room. They are:
Joshua Autry, 33 of Janesville
David Cline, 29 of Belleville
D’sean Dean, 27 of DeForest
Zachary Henderson, 31 of Madison
Vincent Jeffords, 52 of Marshall
Jimmie Marnell, 25 of Madison
Zachary Raby, 42 of Milton
Kipp Smith, 41 of Sun Prairie
Elizabeth Soper, 22 of Waunakee
The group brings various experiences and backgrounds to the Sheriff’s Office. Depending on their previous level of training, new deputies will attend the Dane County Sheriff’s Office Jail and/or Law Enforcement Academies and receive on-the-job training. Their first assignment will be in the Dane County Jail, where they will serve a two-year probationary period. The positions became available due to retirements and vacancies that occurred in the past year. Two of the nine were hired as part of the Sheriff’s Office's new lateral transfer program. The Dane County Sheriff’s Office continually recruits for deputy and civilian positions to fill vacancies as they occur. Applications can be found online at www.teamdane.com. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply.
