Lake Death Investigation

At 9:21 am, Dane County Marine and Trail deputies, along with UW Lake Rescue, Madison Fire and Rescue and Shorewood Hills Police, responded to a missing scuba diver on Lake Mendota near McKenna Park in Shorewood Hills.

The 63-year-old male diver was found unresponsive by one of his fellow divers in approximately 24’ of water. Deputies were able to remove him from the water and bring him to shore where they performed CPR.

He was transported to UW Hospital but died a short time later. The death is under investigation by the Dane County Sheriff’s Office.
