At 7:40 am, Dane County Sheriff’s deputies, along with the Sauk County Sheriff’s deputies, Sauk Prairie Police and the Sauk City Fire Department, responded to a single vehicle crash in the town of Roxbury.
A 2019 Honda Passport operated 50-year-old man from Circle Pines, MN, was traveling westbound on US Highway 12, when his vehicle left the road, hit a sign and then landed in the Wisconsin River. The river’s current took the vehicle approximately ¼ mile downstream. The driver was able to escape from the SUV and was assisted to shore by Sauk City Fire Rescue. He suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries and was transported by EMS to a local hospital.
The cause of the crash is being investigated by the Dane County Sheriff’s Office. The Sauk County Dive Team, Sauk Prairie Police and Sauk City firefighters were instrumental in today’s response. Crews continue to work at the scene to remove the SUV from the river.
