Underage Drinking Party- Investigation Update

Madison, WI. 11/08/07– Sheriff’s detectives have concluded their investigation into the underage drinking party from 09/30/07 in the Town of Westport. During the course of the investigation, detectives learned that several of the attendees of the party made allegations that they were not allowed to leave the shed on the morning of the incident. Allegations were made that several of the attendees had blocked or barricaded the doors, preventing those who wanted to from leaving the building. There was also information that a few of the individuals blocking the exits had allegedly armed themselves with sledge hammers or other weapons. As a result of the investigation, the Sheriff’s office has referred the case to the District Attorney’s office with recommendations for charges of multiple counts of PTAC- False Imprisonment while armed and DC- While armed against nine individuals (ranging in age from 17-44). Obstructing charges were also referred against two adults. After a charging decision is made by the DA’s office, the Sheriff’s office will also be issuing ordinance citations to the hosts of the party.
